Jaipur, March 23 (NationPress) The Special Operation Group (SOG) has apprehended a former Congress Councillor Naresh Dev alias N.D. Saran in relation to the 2020 Rajasthan Forest Guard recruitment examination leak case, as per official reports.
Saran's arrest came after extensive questioning of Kanwararam Jat, who was detained on March 12 and disclosed Saran's involvement.
Following this, the SOG intensified their inquiry into the matter.
SOG Additional Director General (ADG) V.K. Singh confirmed that Saran was taken into custody at his residence in Barmer on Friday evening and was formally arrested the next day.
Previously, Saran had served as the Student Union President of Government College Barmer.
Currently, the SOG has arrested a total of 27 individuals linked to the paper leak case.
During the interrogation, N.D. Saran admitted to negotiating a deal of Rs 6 lakh per candidate, which amounted to a total of Rs 42 lakh from seven candidates.
The SOG is proceeding with its investigation based on Saran's confessions.
According to SOG ADG Singh, N.D. Saran transported all seven candidates from Barmer to Udaipur in an Innova car to study the leaked examination paper prior to the November 13, 2022 exam.
Upon arrival in Udaipur, they were met by Kanwararam Jat and Jabararam Jat, who escorted them to the residence of another accomplice, Sanwarmal Jat. At this location, the leaked exam paper was printed and taught to the candidates.
The police are actively searching for Jabararam Jat.
The 2020 Forest Guard Recruitment exam was held in two shifts on November 13, 2022.
The mastermind behind the operation, Harish, obtained the leaked paper from Barmer.
Before both exam shifts, candidates received training on solving the paper at a house and a hotel.
Each candidate reportedly paid Rs 8 lakh for access to the leaked examination paper.
The scandal was uncovered following the arrest of Praveen Malviya, a resident of Shastrinagar, Banswara, on June 28, 2024.
During his interrogation, Praveen disclosed that Village Development Officer (VDO) Sakan Khadiya, Harish Saharan, and Junior Engineer Abhimanyu Singh had colluded to leak the examination paper.
The first shift's paper was solved at Hotel Blue Moon in Banswara, while the second shift's paper was solved at Praveen's home in Shastrinagar, Banswara.
Harish and Abhimanyu guided the candidates through solving the leaked paper, while VDO Sakan Khadiya coordinated the entire operation.
Due to the paper leak, five individuals, including Subhash Dindor, Sukhram Damor, and his wife Nirma Damor, managed to secure government jobs.
Each of them reportedly paid Rs 8 lakh for the leaked examination paper. The SOG continues its investigation and is interrogating additional suspects implicated in the paper leak case, officials stated.
