Did Rajasthan Police Arrest an Assistant Engineer for JE Recruitment Exam Paper Leak?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Jan 30 (NationPress) In a significant turn of events regarding the Junior Engineer (JE) Combined Recruitment Examination-2020 paper leak case, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has made another startling discovery.
The original JE examination was leaked, leading to its cancellation, and the re-examination held in September 2021 was also tainted, as reported by police officials on Thursday.
The SOG has dismantled a substantial paper-leak network based in Jalore and apprehended Ganpat Lal Bishnoi, aged 34, the son of Govardhan Ram, hailing from Dedwa in Sanchore.
Bishnoi, employed as an Assistant Engineer in the Rajasthan Public Works Department (PWD), had achieved the 12th position in the merit list by utilizing a leaked question paper.
As per the statements from Vishal Bansal, Additional Director General of Police (SOG) in Jaipur, the investigation into the JE recruitment paper leak case, registered at Sanganer Police Station in December 2020, raised suspicions about how multiple accused candidates managed to succeed after the examination was annulled.
Upon interrogation, the accused admitted that the question paper for the re-examination conducted on September 12, 2021, was also leaked beforehand.
In light of this shocking revelation, the SOG opened a new case on January 19, 2026.
The investigation has pointed to Jagdish Bishnoi, son of Hariram, from Danta in Sanchore, as a key suspect in the examination paper leak conspiracy.
During questioning, it became evident that Jagdish and his accomplices distributed question papers to candidates just prior to the examination.
The most alarming finding is the involvement of Ganpat Lal Bishnoi, who illegally obtained the question paper, participated in the exam, and secured the 12th rank in the final merit list.
At the time of his arrest, he was serving as an Assistant Engineer in the PWD at Barmer and had also received a promotion.
The SOG has taken him into custody, and legal action has commenced to revoke both his appointment and promotion.
The investigation further disclosed that the same organized group was implicated in leaking the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination papers conducted from September 13 to 15, 2021.
This indicates that within a mere three-day period, the gang undermined the integrity of two significant state-level recruitment examinations.
“The SOG is working to identify the entire network. Our aim is not just to apprehend those involved but also to eliminate fraudulent officers who have infiltrated the system through dishonest means,” stated ADG (SOG) Vishal Bansal.
