Rajasthan SOG Dismantles Exam Fraud Ring, Captures Fugitive
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 30 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) has successfully dismantled a recruitment exam fraud network that utilized “dummy candidates”. In a significant breakthrough, they apprehended a primary suspect, Sunil Bishnoi, who had evaded capture for almost two years and was under a bounty of Rs 10,000.
Bishnoi had been on the run since 2023, with SOG teams relentlessly pursuing him through various raids. According to SOG ADG Vishal Bansal, this case is associated with the RPSC Senior Teacher (Secondary Education) Grade-II Competitive Examination held in 2022.
The examination, originally scheduled for December 24, 2022, was annulled on the same day due to a leak in the General Knowledge paper and was subsequently rescheduled for January 29, 2023. Investigations showed that the legitimate candidate, Sampatlal Mali, did not take part in either exam. Instead, two impersonators sat for the test in his stead.
Per the SOG, Sunil Bishnoi took the General Knowledge and Educational Psychology paper at Government Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School in Chetak Circle, Udaipur, on January 29, 2023, acting as the original candidate.
The second impersonator, who sat for the Science paper, remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate him. Officials anticipate that interrogating Bishnoi could uncover crucial connections to a more extensive network of middlemen involved in this fraud.
Despite the fraudulent activities, Sampatlal Mali was provisionally chosen for the Senior Teacher Grade-II (Science) position. However, his appointment was halted after a complaint was lodged at the RPSC headquarters in Ajmer. Mali had previously been detained on January 13.
A case has been filed against Bishnoi under pertinent sections of the IPC and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2022. The investigation is led by Prakash Kumar Sharma.
The SOG is now broadening its investigation to identify additional dummy candidates, middlemen, and others involved in this extensive recruitment fraud.
