The agitated mob reportedly pursued the excise personnel, compelling them to retreat to prevent further conflict.
During the ensuing chaos, other team members managed to escape unharmed. The injured officer was promptly taken to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Medical staff attending to him stated that his condition is stable.
Excise Commissioner Niranjan Tiwari visited the hospital after being informed of the incident and met with the injured officer.
In response to the attack, the Chaibasa Mufassil police swiftly initiated an investigation. A police team, led by Station House Officer Vinod Kumar, arrived at Argundi village to commence their inquiry. Security measures have been heightened in the area to avert any further disturbances.
Police sources indicated that one suspect linked to the attack has been detained for questioning, although official confirmation is still pending.
Investigations into the illegal liquor production and the assault on government officials are ongoing.
