Mumbai, March 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, remarked on Monday that the stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra ought to express regret for labeling Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a “traitor” during his performance.“While everyone has the privilege to engage in stand-up comedy, such freedom should not lead to reckless behavior. Kamra is expected to apologize promptly for his comments. Legal action will follow,” stated the CM.
The Mumbai Police have filed an FIR against Kamra regarding his derogatory comment aimed at Dy CM Shinde. “Following the FIR registration, the Mumbai Police are actively pursuing comedian Kunal Kamra,” mentioned the Minister of State for Home (Urban) and Shiv Sena leader, Yogesh Kadam.
Shiv Sena Minister Pratap Sarnaik, upon visiting the Khar police station, asserted, “Shiv Sainiks will not endure or forgive anyone who insults or ridicules our leader. While I do not condone the vandalism, I am fundamentally a Shiv Sainik and the insults prompted these reactions.”
BJP legislator Ram Kadam argued that “Kamra’s remarks about Dy CM Shinde are a disgrace to Maharashtra. Kamra speaks for the Thackeray faction. His comments seem designed to distract from controversies surrounding the Disha Salian case, especially since the Thackeray family is implicated.”
Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske accused Kamra of receiving payments from the Thackerays to target Dy CM Shinde. “Kamra is a hired comedian. He should refrain from provoking a dangerous situation. If we pursue you, you will find it impossible to move freely across the country. We are Shiv Sainiks of the late Balasaheb Thackeray. Should we choose to follow you, you may need to leave the country,” he warned.
Additionally, MP Milind Deora commented on X, saying, “Ridiculing Eknath Shinde ji—an individual who transformed from an auto driver to the leader of India's second-largest state—displays classist arrogance. India is rejecting privileged dynasties and their sycophantic networks that falsely advocate for merit and democracy.”
