Fadnavis Urges Officials to Prioritize Timely Completion of Infrastructure Initiatives

Mumbai, Jan 9 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday urged government departments to concentrate on finishing a variety of infrastructure projects promptly and efficiently.

“The primary aim of the state government is to ensure comprehensive development in Maharashtra by striking a balance between infrastructure initiatives in both rural and urban regions. This approach is geared towards creating equal opportunities for progress across all areas through government policies. Hence, relevant departments and authorities are encouraged to accelerate the construction of significant infrastructure projects within the state,” he stated.

On Thursday, Fadnavis assessed the current status of 19 major projects spanning diverse sectors such as Metro, railways, highways, airports, ports, irrigation, water supply, sanitation, and tourism in Mumbai and other parts of the state.

Among the projects reviewed were the Lower Pedi Irrigation Project, Krishna Koyna Lift Irrigation Scheme, Virar-Alibagh Multimodal Corridor, BDD Chawl Redevelopment Project, Bandra-Versova Sea Link, Thane Circular Metro, Pune Ring Road, Pune Metro-3, and the Dharavi Redevelopment Project.

The Chief Minister instructed that these projects be completed on schedule and emphasized the need for transparency in their execution by addressing obstacles related to administrative approvals, fund allocation, land acquisition, supplementary demands, and execution processes.

“The development of Vadhvan Port in Palghar district is crucial for enhancing the country's maritime trade. It is essential to accelerate the approval and land acquisition processes for its construction. This initiative will significantly support Maharashtra's industrial and export policies,” he noted.

He directed that the entire land required for Vadhvan Port should be allocated by March 31, and a consultant should be appointed for Palghar Airport.

Additionally, the Chief Minister instructed relevant departments to take necessary steps for the development of the route from Vadhvan Port to Nashik and to appoint consultants to explore the feasibility of establishing a new airport at Vadhvan.

Regarding the enhancement of irrigation facilities in Vidarbha and Marathwada, he ordered that work orders be issued on Monday for surveying the Wainganga-Nalganga River Linking Project, and immediate land allocation for victims of the Lower Pendhi Project.

This project is expected to significantly increase the area under irrigation and improve water resource management.

He further directed that land acquisition for the Wardha-Nanded Railway Line and Wadsa-Gadchiroli Project be expedited.

In light of the growing population in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and the rising water scarcity, the water supply project will be of utmost significance, and issues regarding the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Water Supply Scheme ROB should be resolved with the first phase commencing by March 31.

Moreover, he instructed that the survey for the Virar-Alibag Multi-Modal Corridor should conclude next month and that the proposal for the Mula Mutha River Conservation Area should be submitted without delay. BDD Chawl Redevelopment and Worli Transit Building should be made available promptly. Additionally, Mumbai Metro 3 should be completed by July.

According to the Chief Minister, the Pune Ring Road Project will provide a significant solution to the escalating traffic issues in and around Pune city, and efforts have been made to accelerate its land acquisition process. This project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and conserve time and fuel.
