Mumbai, Nov 4 (NationPress) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday urged the administration and various government bodies to guarantee that all ongoing infrastructure development projects in the state meet their deadlines. He emphasized the necessity to tackle issues faced during project execution promptly and to design new infrastructure projects to be completed within a span of two to two-and-a-half years. The Chief Minister highlighted the integration of modern technology in the planning and execution of all development initiatives.
Fadnavis made these remarks during a meeting to assess ongoing infrastructure projects in Mumbai Suburban, Thane, and Pune.
He instructed that the Mumbai Metro Line-2B, which will connect DN Nagar to Mandalay near Diamond Garden through the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and include 19 stations, be completed by March 31, 2027.
Furthermore, he stressed that the metro line from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli should be finished by December 31, 2026, and ordered the Urban Development Department to resolve land-related issues at Shyam Nagar station within 15 days.
Fadnavis also called for the expedited work on the Sewri-Worli connecting road project, urging officers and contractors to devise strategies to bring delayed projects back on track.
The Metro Line 3 (Mann-Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar) project under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority should be completed by March 31, 2026, according to the Chief Minister.
Additionally, he proposed that the BDD Chawl redevelopment be classified as a crucial project, with the Naigaon BDD Chawl redevelopment to be done by June 2029, the Worli project by May 2029, and the NM Joshi Marg BDD Chawl redevelopment in Mumbai by June 2031.
Fadnavis directed officials to prioritize the timely completion of significant projects such as the Thane-Borivali double tunnel, Uttan-Virar Sea Link, and the Orange Gate–Marine Drive urban tunnel. He noted that the Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway will significantly cut travel time to just 20 minutes once operational.
He ordered the MMRDA to promptly remit the necessary funds for land acquisition related to these initiatives. The Chief Minister also reviewed the Vadpe–Thane road project under the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), stating that 19 km of the total 23.8 km stretch has been completed, with a target completion by March 2026.
Fadnavis emphasized that the road is vital for the Samruddhi Highway and added that the Mumbai–Pune Missing Link work will also be finalized shortly.
However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the Bandra–Versova Sea Link project, instructing the contractor to ensure timely completion using cutting-edge technology.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the Magathane–Goregaon DP Road project led by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), directing that land acquisition and the construction of housing for project-affected individuals be accelerated, utilizing modern construction techniques.
Fadnavis called for increased workforce deployment to hasten work on the double tunnel from Film City, Goregaon to Khindipada, Mulund, improving connectivity for residents in western suburbs to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.
He noted that the Central Government has authorized the use of salt-pan lands for the Mumbai Coastal Road project between Versova, Dahisar, and Bhayander, directing that this project be completed in phases by December 30, 2028.
In addition, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of development initiatives undertaken by Mahavitaran, the Water Resources Department, and CIDCO.
