Gurugram, May 4 (NationPress) The Gurugram Police have apprehended an individual for reportedly impersonating a fake OSD of the Haryana Chief Minister while contacting the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Electricity Board regarding the removal of an electricity pole, according to police reports on Sunday.
Sandeep Kumar, the spokesperson for the Gurugram Police, identified the suspect as Amit Chaudhary (49), a resident of Nathupur in Gurugram. He mentioned that the arrest took place in Nathupur.
A complaint was lodged on May 1 at the Sector-56 police station concerning this incident.
“During our investigation, the Sector-56 police team gathered essential evidence against the suspect and apprehended him. The accused admitted to the police that he portrays himself as a person of political influence in society. This led one of his acquaintances to request the removal of electricity poles situated near one of his plots,” Kumar stated.
The spokesperson further explained that to showcase his supposed political clout, the accused threatened the SDO of the Electricity Department by making a fraudulent call, presenting himself as the CM’s OSD.
“The suspect had established a fake profile on Truecaller for this scam,” he added.
Additionally, police investigations revealed that the accused had previously been arrested and imprisoned in Panchkula for defrauding an individual of Rs 57 lakh by falsely claiming he could secure a petrol pump through his political connections.
“There are also two pending cases related to cheque bounce against the accused in court. The police team has recovered the mobile device used in the crime from the suspect’s possession,” Kumar noted.
In a separate incident, Kumar reported that the police also arrested an individual for illegal possession of over 3 kg of ganja. The suspect was identified as Jai Kumar, a resident of Maharani Bagh in New Delhi.
Kumar stated that a crime branch team from the Gurugram Police apprehended the suspect near Gurjar Chowk, Sector-67-A, Gurugram.
“During interrogation, the suspect revealed that he sourced the ganja from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and sold it in small packets in Gurugram,” he said.
Kumar added that a case has been filed against the suspect under the relevant sections of the NDPS at the Sector-65 police station in Gurugram.
