Bengaluru, Nov 3 (NationPress) The trial court overseeing the high-profile fan murder case is set to frame charges against jailed Kannada superstar Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 16 others today. The accused will be presented in court, and upon completion of the charge framing process, the trial will commence.
Previously, the court had scheduled October 31 for this procedure. However, Darshan's lawyer, Sunil, requested additional time to clarify the charge framing process to his client. He argued that agreeing to charges without full understanding could create future legal issues.
The court agreed to this request and postponed the proceedings to November 3. It also instructed both parties to work together to facilitate the swift examination of witnesses in this case. Following the framing of charges, the court will begin the trial and review witness testimonies. After this, a verdict will be delivered.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were taken into custody on June 11, 2024, for the kidnapping and brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. Renukaswamy is said to have sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, leading to his violent end due to the anger over Darshan's relationship with her despite his marriage.
Darshan was transferred to Ballari Prison after reports surfaced of his alleged privileged treatment at Bengaluru Central Prison. He is currently facing three FIRs related to this case. The police presented a comprehensive 3,991-page charge sheet on September 4, 2024, along with an additional submission to the court.
On October 30, 2024, Darshan was released after 131 days in custody, but following an appeal by the Karnataka Police, the Supreme Court revoked his bail, leading to his re-arrest along with Pavithra Gowda and others.
Pavithra Gowda, known as Darshan's long-term partner, reportedly had rivalries with Darshan’s wife, Vijayalaxmi, over possessions like jewellery and luxury vehicles. She allegedly pressured Darshan for public appearances.
Public disputes between Pavithra Gowda and Vijayalaxmi on social media escalated tensions, causing Darshan’s fans to take sides. Renukaswamy, who supported Vijayalaxmi, faced backlash, culminating in the violent altercation that led to his death, as per police reports.
