Bengaluru, Oct 29 (NationPress) In a significant turn of events, a court dealing with the high-profile fan murder case has opted to initiate the charging process against imprisoned Kannada actor Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and several others on October 31.
The trial court made this decision following the prosecution's request, highlighting that Darshan's legal team was attempting to stall the charge framing procedure.
Additionally, the court urged both parties to work together to facilitate the prompt examination of witnesses in the case.
Once the charges are established, the trial will commence, and witnesses will be called for examination. The court will issue its verdict after this stage.
In a separate matter, while addressing Darshan's request for enhanced amenities within Bengaluru Central Prison, the court declined to provide him with an extra bed and pillow. However, it ordered the prison authorities to supply him with a blanket and clothes each month. The decision regarding Darshan's potential transfer to another barrack was left to the prison authorities' discretion.
The court also denied a request from the fifth accused, Nandeesh, to have his name removed from the case.
Both Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, along with other accused individuals, attended the court session via video conferencing. Darshan was observed with kumkum on his forehead and stood respectfully alongside the other defendants.
Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were taken into custody on June 11, 2024, on allegations of kidnapping and the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. Renukaswamy reportedly sent inappropriate and offensive messages to Pavithra Gowda, incensed that Darshan was involved with her despite being married.
Following the emergence of images depicting his purported 'royal treatment' in Bengaluru Central Prison, Darshan was relocated to Ballari Prison. Currently, he is confronted with three FIRs linked to the case. The police submitted a lengthy 3,991-page chargesheet to the court on September 4, 2024, along with an additional chargesheet.
Darshan was released from custody on October 30, 2024, after spending 131 days incarcerated. He, Pavithra Gowda, and others were rearrested after the Supreme Court revoked their bail following an appeal by the Karnataka Police.
It is noteworthy that Pavithra Gowda has been recognized as Darshan's long-term partner. Sources indicate that she has been in competition with Darshan's wife, Vijayalaxmi, over luxury items like jewelry and cars. Allegedly, she pressured Darshan to make public appearances with her after he had been spotted with his wife.
Public spats between Pavithra Gowda and Vijayalaxmi on social media have fueled tensions, prompting Darshan's fans to take sides and direct hostility towards one of the women.
Renukaswamy, who supported Vijayalaxmi, allegedly sent derogatory messages and images to Pavithra Gowda, which led to the violent circumstances surrounding his demise, according to police investigations.
