The incident occurred in Dubiyathi Tola of Hesatu village, situated under the jurisdiction of Bargarh police station in Tehri Panchayat. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old Suryadev Yadav.
Residents disclosed that tensions erupted after three goats owned by Suryadev Yadav reportedly died from poisoning. His family accused Ramkishun Yadav, known as Dubai Yadav, along with his wife Kawalia Devi, of being responsible for the poisoning.
In the wake of the incident, Suryadev Yadav sought assistance from the Panchayat head, Vinko Toppo, to file a complaint and request intervention.
It has been claimed that as he attempted to capture images of the deceased goats on his mobile device for evidence, members of the accused family confronted him and launched an attack.
According to police reports, approximately 11 individuals, including Ramkishun Yadav, Raju Yadav, Santhosh Yadav, and Kawalia Devi, allegedly assaulted Suryadev Yadav with sticks and a sickle, inflicting severe injuries that led to his death at the scene.
During the chaotic confrontation, Suryadev’s sons, Mahesh Yadav and Ganesh Yadav, also suffered significant injuries, along with two other individuals.
The injured were promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for immediate treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Mahesh Yadav was subsequently referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for advanced medical attention.
Upon receiving reports, the Bargarh police arrived at the village, managed to control the situation, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Security measures have been heightened in the area to avert further conflicts.
Ganesh Yadav, the deceased’s son, has submitted a formal complaint at the police station, urging stringent action against those who participated in the assault.
Police have initiated a murder case and attempted murder charges against 11 identified suspects.
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer stated that operations are ongoing to apprehend the accused individuals and emphasized that a thorough investigation is currently in progress.
