Tragic Discovery: Female Doctor Found Dead in Mumbai Hospital
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) A female physician was discovered deceased under questionable circumstances at the Western Railway's Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Mumbai Central, eliciting shock and distress among the hospital staff. The victim has been identified as Dr. Anuja Kulkarni, a single doctor working in the ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) department.
The incident was reported on Wednesday when Dr. Kulkarni failed to show up for her scheduled surgeries in the operating room. In light of this, the Tardeo Police initiated a case under the Accidental Death Report (ADR) category and began an investigation.
As per the Mumbai Police and hospital officials, Dr. Kulkarni had a series of pre-arranged surgeries planned for that day. However, her absence from the operating room raised alarms among her colleagues. Numerous attempts were made to reach her via her mobile phone, but there was no response.
In response to the unusual situation, a junior doctor went to her room on the fourth floor of the hospital to check on her. After knocking continuously with no answer, the junior doctor peered through the glass panel of the door and saw Dr. Kulkarni lying on the floor beside a chair.
The hospital administration was promptly alerted, and senior doctors hurried to the scene. Upon examination, they confirmed her passing. Subsequently, the police were notified, and a team from the Tardeo Police Station arrived to investigate the scene and perform a panchnama.
Initial investigations indicated that the door to the room where the doctor's body was located was locked from the inside, raising further suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death.
The police later transported the body to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Once the procedure was finalized, the body was returned to her family.
Officials stated that the precise cause of death would only be determined after the post-mortem report is received. Meanwhile, police have collected CCTV footage from the hospital, including cameras situated on the fourth floor, to support the investigation.
This tragic event has fostered an atmosphere of shock and anxiety among medical professionals and hospital staff. The police are investigating the case from all possible angles.
