Bengaluru, April 7 (NationPress) The Karnataka Lokayukta has initiated an FIR against a police Inspector, two Constables, and four other individuals for allegedly forcing a female government employee to relinquish her residence in return for the closure of a legal case against her, as confirmed by sources on Monday.
The Lokayukta police recently executed a raid on the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station related to this matter.
The FIR targets Inspector A.V. Kumar along with Constables Umesh and Ananth, all affiliated with the Annapoorneshwari Nagar station.
Additionally, the Lokayukta has identified C.P. Gavi Gowda, Divya, Somashekar Aradhya, and Dinesh as co-defendants in the case. All seven individuals face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
As per Lokayukta sources, a previous complaint had been lodged at the same police station by Somashekar Aradhya against Anusha, the spouse of civil contractor Channe Gowda, who is a government employee.
Anusha accused Inspector Kumar of pressuring her to hand over a property valued at Rs 4 crore in return for a closure report in the ongoing case.
Channe Gowda, her husband, provided video evidence purportedly showing goons being dispatched to their home to instill fear.
Inspector Kumar is also charged with compelling the complainants to visit the police station and coercively signing paperwork.
Sources have revealed that the Inspector had intentions to transfer the property to one of his relatives.
Last week, he allegedly summoned Anusha to a private hotel in Nagarbhavi to secure her signature on the necessary documents.
However, the Lokayukta team conducted raids, prompting Inspector Kumar to flee the scene.
Currently, two police Constables and three other individuals have been taken into custody by the Lokayukta, with ongoing investigations.
Ironically, Inspector Kumar was due to receive the Chief Minister’s medal for exemplary service last week.
However, he went into hiding following the Lokayukta's operation.
Somashekar Aradhya had previously filed a complaint in 2024 against Anusha, alleging that she and her husband Gowda had obtained Rs 60 lakh from him for a property.
Aradhya claimed that when he sought the return of his money from Anusha, she allegedly refused. In this regard, he approached the implicated police officer Kumar, according to police reports.
