Bengaluru, Jan 21 (NationPress) In a disturbing incident, a woman awaiting a bus in Bengaluru's K.R. Market was gang-raped and robbed of her jewellery, cash, and mobile device.

The woman filed a report at the Women's Police Station in the Central Division, officials stated on Tuesday.

Sources indicate that the event transpired on Sunday around 11:30 p.m. near Godown Street in the K.R. Market vicinity in Bengaluru. Authorities have detained one suspect related to the case and are currently interrogating him.

The victim was waiting for transportation to the Yelahanka area. She had asked the perpetrators about the bus's availability. Exploiting her vulnerability, the suspects, posing as helpful individuals, claimed they knew where the bus would stop and led her away.

They took her to Godown Street, where they sexually assaulted her before robbing her. The police have acquired CCTV footage from the vicinity and initiated a search for the assailants.

Additional details regarding the incident are still forthcoming.

In response to this alarming event, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the Congress-led administration for the worsening law and order conditions in the state. He remarked, “Karnataka has become a haven for robbers and rapists.”

“Once celebrated for its culture, values, and safety, Karnataka is now uncomfortably emerging as a center of dacoity and atrocities. The report of a gang-rape and robbery of a solitary woman waiting for a bus near K.R. Market in Bengaluru is a profoundly heinous and inhumane occurrence. This emphasizes the state’s declining law and order, making it incapable of protecting women,” he charged.

“Under the Congress-led Karnataka government, divisive politics and celebrations are prioritized over public welfare and social security. An atmosphere of insecurity has enveloped the citizens, leading them to question the existence of a police force, home department, or effective governance,” Vijayendra criticized.

“With a lack of development on one front and complete administrative failure on the other, this government is under scrutiny for its inability to maintain basic law and order. The Bengaluru gang-rape incident must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and the offenders should face stringent punishment,” Vijayendra appealed.

“The sequence of murders, robberies, crimes against women, and rapes has left civil society in distress, highlighting the anarchic state of affairs. If such incidents persist, there is no doubt that the populace will rise to hold this government accountable. The BJP Karnataka is dedicated to advocating for the safety and security of law and order in the state,” he emphasized.
