Bengaluru, Jan 21 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has called for the resignation of Home Minister G. Parameshwara after a disturbing gang-rape incident involving a woman occurred on Tuesday morning in the state.

The BJP has raised alarms regarding the rising trend of criminal activities in the region.

In a distressing case, a woman, while waiting for a bus at Bengaluru's K.R. Market, was gang-raped and stripped of her jewelry, cash, and mobile phone.

C. Manjula, President of the State BJP Mahila Morcha, has insisted on the immediate resignation of Home Minister G. Parameshwara, holding him accountable for the deteriorating law and order.

Manjula stressed that the government must take all necessary steps to guarantee women's safety.

Referring to the recent gang-rape incident, she condemned the two assailants who assaulted a woman at the K.R. Market bus stand, situated near Vidhana Soudha, the state's power center.

She criticized the government for its evident failure to protect women, particularly in Bengaluru.

Expressing disbelief that such a grievous crime could happen in a busy locale like K.R. Market, which is teeming with people at all hours, she stated, “This indicates a gross negligence of women’s safety measures by the government.”

Being an international hub, Bengaluru must not tolerate such crimes against women, as they project a negative image both nationally and globally, she remarked.

She also accused the Congress government of significantly neglecting women’s safety.

“The current Congress administration’s Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister are engrossed in promoting ‘Brand Bengaluru.’ But is this truly the 'Brand Bengaluru' they advocate, where women face insecurity?” she questioned.

Additionally, she mentioned that the government has restricted fuel supplies for Hoysala police patrol vehicles to a mere 100 litres.

“Police personnel have been directed to conduct patrols within this limited fuel allocation, leading to a decrease in the frequency of Hoysala patrols in Bengaluru, thus contributing to such crimes,” she noted, referencing local women leaders.

Manjula condemned the government's negligence, which she claimed spans the entire state, particularly regarding women’s issues.

She accused local MLA and Minister for Waqf and Housing Zameer Ahmad Khan of oppressing and intimidating constituents, worsening the situation, she alleged.

Locals have claimed that incidents like this are indirectly encouraged by the involvement of MLA and Minister Zameer, she stated.

Furthermore, she pointed out that police officers frequently fail to respond to complaints made by women, exacerbating their distress. Despite numerous incidents of sexual assaults, robberies, and crimes against women and children occurring across the state, the government has not taken effective action, she declared.

“The government exhibits incompetence and is absorbed in political power struggles, disregarding women’s safety and exacerbating law and order,” she remarked.

She strongly criticized the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister for prioritizing their political survival over the safety and welfare of women.

Meanwhile, in response to the alarming incident, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra condemned the Congress-led government for the deteriorating law and order in the state. “Karnataka has become a safe haven for robbers and rapists,” he stated.

After the BJP criticized the Congress government regarding the law and order situation following the gang-rape and robbery of a woman in central Bengaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah questioned whether there were no reports of rape during the previous government’s term. This statement sparked controversy.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi on Tuesday, CM Siddaramaiah stated, “Were there no incidents of rape during the BJP's governance? Such acts should not occur. Women deserve protection. However, anti-social elements may still engage in such offenses. We will take strict action against them.”

In a shocking event, a woman waiting for a bus in Bengaluru's K.R. Market was gang-raped and robbed of her jewelry, cash, and mobile phone.

The woman filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in the Central Division, as reported by officials on Tuesday.

As per sources, the incident transpired on Sunday around 11:30 p.m. near Godown Street in the K.R. Market area of Bengaluru. The police have detained one individual in connection with the incident and are currently interrogating him.

The victim was waiting for a bus to the Yelahanka locality. When she inquired about the bus schedule from the accused, posing as good Samaritans, they misled her, claiming to know where the bus would stop and took her along.

They brought her to Godown Street, where they assaulted her and subsequently robbed her. The police have acquired CCTV footage from the area and have initiated a search for the culprits.
