New Delhi, Aug 18 (NationPress) Tragically, four individuals, including three women, lost their lives in a devastating fire that razed an electronics showroom in Raja Garden, located in west Delhi, on Monday evening, according to a police representative.
The fire service received an emergency alert at approximately 3:08 p.m. about a blaze on the second floor of Mahajan Electronics, the official reported.
Initially, it was reported that five people were trapped in the flames, which were eventually subdued by five fire engines around 4 p.m., as per the official's statement.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, preliminary indications suggest that a short circuit might have instigated the disaster.
The deceased have been identified as Amandeep Kaur (22), Ayushi (22), Payal (20), and Ravi (28), according to police reports.
Additionally, Sandeep (23) sustained injuries in the incident, along with a firefighter named Lokesh Dagar, who was also hurt during the efforts.
During rescue operations, firefighters managed to extract four individuals from the store; unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
This fire incident follows closely on the heels of another tragedy where seven people lost their lives due to a roof collapse near Humayun’s Tomb last Friday.
The collapse occurred at a residential unit adjacent to a dargah within the Humayun’s Tomb complex, leading the Delhi Police to file a negligence FIR related to the incident.
In that incident, three women and four men lost their lives, allegedly due to a weak foundation and water infiltration in the attached dwelling unit of Dargah Patte Wali, as reported by the police.
An FIR was lodged at the Nizamuddin Police Station under sections concerning causing death by negligence, endangering life or personal safety, and negligent actions regarding construction, repair, or demolition of buildings.
On Friday, authorities identified six of the deceased as Moinuddin, Anita Saini, Swaroop Chand, Meena Arora, Monu Arora, and Arif. The injured were named as Mohammad Shameem, Aryan, Gudiya, and Rafat Parveen.
