What Happened in Madhya Pradesh? Four Electrocuted in Two Separate Incidents

Bhopal, June 13 (NationPress) Tragically, four individuals, including an eight-year-old girl, lost their lives due to electrocution, while five others suffered significant injuries during two distinct incidents in Gadarwara town of Narsinghpur district and Burhanpur town, Madhya Pradesh.

As per police reports, three individuals were severely shocked when they accidentally touched a live 11 kV electric line in Gadarwara on Friday. The incident took place around 11 a.m. outside a ‘Marriage Garden’ on Jamada Road, where preparations were in progress for an upcoming event. While moving a large iron ladder-cum-platform near the garden’s entrance, it inadvertently contacted the overhead power line, resulting in a devastating electric shock that witnesses described as generating smoke from the victims’ bodies.

The deceased workers—identified as Piyush (26), Rajesh Pali (32), and Puran Jatav (36)—died instantly. Two victims were from Gadarwara, while one hailed from Indore. The injured were swiftly transported to local hospitals, with one in critical condition referred to the district hospital in Narsinghpur.

Owned by a local entrepreneur, the Marriage Garden has become the center of community outrage, as residents demand accountability from the electricity department regarding safety measures at the site. Locals assert that no prior warning or insulation was provided for the dangerously positioned high-tension line near the venue.

Expressing his condolences, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for each injured worker. He instructed officials to ensure adequate medical treatment for the injured and to initiate a thorough inquiry into the incident.

The district administration has commenced a preliminary investigation, with senior officials from the electricity department visiting the site. This event has rekindled discussions about worker safety and the enforcement of electrical safety regulations at public venues. Authorities have assured that negligence will not go unpunished.

In a related event, an eight-year-old girl tragically died after being electrocuted while playing in Burhanpur on Friday. This incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. when five girls were playing near an old house and came into contact with a live, broken electric wire hanging from the building. Although two girls were saved by family members, Purvi Barkane died at the scene. Two other girls, Shivani Barkane (6) and Rishika, were also involved.
