New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Tragically, a fire erupted in a multi-storey building located in the Palam region of the capital, claiming the lives of at least seven individuals, including three children. Additionally, two more people have sustained injuries, while several others are feared to be trapped inside, as confirmed by officials.

Firefighting personnel promptly arrived at the scene following reports of the blaze, initiating a significant rescue operation. Approximately 25 fire engines have been dispatched to the area, where both cooling and search efforts are actively ongoing.

Authorities have reported that the death toll currently stands at seven. In a desperate bid to escape the inferno, two individuals jumped from the building and were injured; they have since been transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Preliminary details indicate that the building features a basement, a ground floor, and four upper levels, in addition to a temporary tin structure on the roof. The basement, ground, and first floors were primarily utilized for the storage of clothes and cosmetics, while the upper two floors housed residential units.

A contingent from the Delhi Police has secured the area to facilitate the ongoing rescue and safety operations.

Moreover, a Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulance, along with a medical team, has been stationed at the site to provide immediate medical care and to transport the injured.

Fire department officials have yet to determine the precise cause of the blaze. The immediate focus remains on extinguishing the fire completely and ensuring the safe evacuation of any individuals who may still be trapped within the building.

Relief and rescue efforts continue, and authorities are closely observing the situation as it evolves.

This incident occurred alongside another devastating fire earlier in the day in Madhya Pradesh.

Reports indicate that six individuals lost their lives in a fire that broke out at a three-storey house in the Tilak Nagar area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, during the early hours of Wednesday, according to officials.

The fire erupted unexpectedly, quickly spreading throughout the structure. Officials revealed that the residence belonged to a businessman named Manoj, and it is suspected that a short circuit related to an electric vehicle charging outside may have ignited the flames. The rapid spread of the fire left little time for residents to escape.

Indore Collector Shivam Verma confirmed the fatalities while discussing the matter with IANS. He stated that more than ten individuals were present in the house at the time of the disaster. Although three people were rescued in time, six others could not be saved.
