Fire Ravages Shops in MP; Firefighting Vehicle Damaged Due to Late Response

Bhopal, Dec 24 (NationPress) A devastating fire destroyed at least 12 tin-shed shops in a market in Amarkantak town, situated in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The incident led to the vandalism of a firefighting vehicle, which was criticized for its late arrival.
The blaze erupted in one shop and swiftly spread to adjacent eateries. Shop owners, employees, and local residents attempted to extinguish the flames by dousing them with water.
Meanwhile, the Fire Department was notified, and firefighters hurried to the scene to combat the fire.
However, angered shop owners voiced their frustration, claiming that the firefighting team was late to respond.
In the chaos, the shop owners misconducted themselves towards the firefighting team, who prioritized their safety.
A video circulating on social media depicted the damaged firefighting vehicle. Upon being informed, local law enforcement arrived at the scene and began taking action against those involved.
According to police, initial investigations indicated that the fire was likely caused by a short circuit in one of the shops, but further details would emerge as the investigation continues. Thankfully, there were no reported casualties.
"A complaint has been lodged by the Fire Department, and the team is currently conducting an inspection. Individuals involved in the violence are being identified, and appropriate legal measures will follow. The investigation is ongoing," stated a police official.
Additionally, police announced that action would be taken against individuals who operated shops illegally without the required permits.
Sources informed IANS that representatives from the district administration also arrived at the site to conduct an inspection.
Earlier this month, on December 5, a significant fire incident occurred in the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary.
