Mumbai, Oct 12 (NationPress) Seven individuals were rescued in a state of unconsciousness following a significant fire incident, which was attributed to a short circuit, at a residential complex in Navi Mumbai's Kharghar, according to officials from the CRPF on Sunday.
The alarming event occurred at the 19-storey Tricity Symphony Tower, situated in Kharghar's Sector-35, where flames surged up to the 19th floor. An official reported this detail.
Among the seven victims, there were three women and four men, including children.
“At approximately 12:50 p.m. today, a serious fire ignited due to a short circuit in the duct of Tricity Symphony Tower, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, extending to the 19th floor. The Quick Action Team of the 102 Battalion of the Rapid Action Force, CRPF, led by the Commandant and other officers, courageously rescued seven residents (three women and four men, including children) from the 17th and 18th floors amid dense smoke. All were transported to a nearby hospital. Fire Services and Kharghar Police later managed to contain the fire. We salute the bravery of our responders!” the CRPF shared on their official X account.
As per official reports, the fire originated from a short circuit in the meter room of the residential society, causing smoke and flames to engulf the 17th, 18th, and 19th floors.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) unit in Kharghar received the alert around 12:50 p.m. Following swift action, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of the 102 Battalion from Taloja executed a rapid rescue operation, as stated by officials.
Subsequently, the Fire Department and Kharghar Police worked together to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The rescued residents were admitted to a local hospital for treatment of breathing difficulties and were reported to be in stable condition.
