Jammu, Sep 24 (NationPress) Five Army soldiers sustained injuries on Wednesday when the vehicle they were in was involved in an accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
According to officials, the incident occurred in the Ghani area of Mankote sector while the soldiers were traveling.
"The vehicle was en route to Jammu from Dhara Dullian in Poonch when it skidded off the road around 7:30 a.m. The injured were stationed at Balnoi Nangi Takeri and were on leave when the mishap occurred," the official stated.
A replacement vehicle has been provided to ensure they continue their journey.
Authorities have acknowledged the incident and have initiated further investigations, as stated by the officials.
The Army is responsible for securing the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district, as well as Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara in the Valley.
The Border Security Force (BSF) oversees the International Border (IB) in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
With a 740-Km-long LoC and a 240-Km-long IB, the Army and BSF are tasked with preventing infiltration, cross-border smuggling, and drone activities.
Terrorist groups operating from the other side of the border, aided by Pakistan, have been using drones to deliver weapons, drugs, and cash into India to fuel terrorism.
The BSF has deployed specialized anti-drone technology along the IB to counteract the drone threat.
Following the suspension of Operation Sindoor, security forces have intensified operations against terrorists, their over-ground workers (OGWs), and sympathizers in Jammu and Kashmir.
Drug traffickers are also under scrutiny, as it is suspected that proceeds from drug smuggling and hawala networks are ultimately used to finance terrorism.
In their updated strategy, security forces are focusing on dismantling the entire terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, rather than just targeting armed terrorists.
