Patna, March 25 (NationPress) In a significant operation targeting Maoist activities, a collaborative effort between the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and the Aurangabad district police resulted in the detention of five Maoist operatives affiliated with the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) on Tuesday, according to officials.

The apprehensions occurred during raids executed in the Mali and Nabinagar police station jurisdictions of Aurangabad district.

Nabinagar Station House Officer (SHO), Arun Kumar, informed IANS that the arrests took place on Tuesday.

The detained individuals comprise Baliram from Bela Khaira village, Krishna Pal from Bairia village, Mithlesh Yadav from Birbal Vigha village, Naresh Ram from Pachhiyari village, and Chhotu Singh from Chandragar (Palamu, Jharkhand).

The first four Maoists are residents of Aurangabad district.

The joint operation also uncovered multiple firearms and ammunition from the arrested individuals, including three 315-bore rifles, one thornet, one country-made rifle, 13 live bullets, one walkie-talkie, seven military uniforms, and other materials.

This operation builds upon a previous success where Mithlesh Kumar Singh, Chotan Kumar, and Lallu Singh, also affiliated with JJMP, were captured in the Nabinagar police station region of Aurangabad.

The arrests relate to a case registered on March 8, 2025, at the Nabinagar police station.

On March 8, 2025, a group of 10 to 12 Naxal operatives disguised in police uniforms extorted money from a clerk at Triveni Engineers Private Limited, a firm involved in constructing the North Koel Canal near Kandi village in Nabinagar.

The Maoist leaders allegedly issued threats of severe consequences if the demanded sum was not paid.

The extortion was reportedly conducted in the name of a wanted Maoist operative named Nitesh, a member of the CPI (Maoist) Koel Son Sub Zonal Committee.

A combination of technical analysis and intelligence gathering indicated that a specialized group of JJMP Maoists had executed the extortion while masquerading as Maoists.

In response to this intelligence, the STF and Aurangabad police carried out raids that led to the arrests.

Krishna Pal and Naresh Ram are known offenders with multiple cases filed against them in Aurangabad district, with charge sheets already submitted.

The criminal backgrounds of the other arrested individuals are currently undergoing verification, and additional information is being sought from Jharkhand.

The Bihar Police underscored that the arrests represent a substantial blow to Maoist operations in the area.

Efforts to gather further intelligence on the group's activities are actively in progress.
