Patna, April 4 (NationPress) In a significant crackdown on Maoist activities, the Gaya police, in collaboration with the Bihar Police's Special Task Force (STF), apprehended seven Maoist operatives since March 30, seizing a large haul of arms and ammunition from their possession, including items that were previously stolen from police.

Gaya SSP Anand Kumar noted that this operation is part of an ongoing initiative to dismantle Maoist networks within the district.

On April 3, authorities received intelligence regarding Maoist operations in Gangti Bazar, located under the Imamganj police station.

A specialized team, led by the SP of Gaya City, along with personnel from the Bihar STF and district police, was deployed to carry out a raid at the site.

“Upon reaching the area, a suspect attempted to escape but was swiftly apprehended. The individual, identified as Rupesh Paswan, hails from Qadirganj village within Imamganj jurisdiction. During questioning, Paswan revealed the whereabouts of concealed arms and ammunition and provided information on two accomplices,” Kumar disclosed.

“Following this, we arrested Uday Kumar Yadav and Bablu Kumar, both captured from Tilathi Hill in the Chhakkarbandha area of Gaya district. All three are facing charges under the relevant sections at the Imamganj police station,” Kumar stated.

The joint operation led to the recovery of three SLR rifles, 3006 semi-automatic rifles (one of which was taken from a private individual), 527 live cartridges of various calibers, one can bomb weighing around 0.5 kg, 6 detonators with wires, 7 SLR magazines, 2 INSAS rifle magazines, 4 SLR chargers, 2 spotted body pouches, 1 Walkie Talkie, and 1 multi-meter.

Earlier, on March 30, Maoist zonal commander Rajesh Yadav, also known as Bihad Yadav, was apprehended in Raigarh district of Maharashtra.

On April 1, Vikram Kumar alias Kailu Yadav and Lala Sharma alias Lal Sharma were arrested in Gaya, followed by the capture of Brajesh Kumar Singh on April 2.

“This operation forms part of our relentless efforts to undermine Naxal (Maoist) activities in Gaya. We remain dedicated to maintaining law and order in the area and will persist in pursuing such elements,” Kumar affirmed.

This crackdown underscores the Bihar STF and Gaya police’s intensified commitment to dismantling Naxal networks in the Imamganj-Chhakkarbandha belt, a historically Maoist-affected region.
