Jalgaon, Sep 27 (NationPress) In a shocking turn of events, the family of former President of India Pratibha Patil has accused Maharashtra Minister Jaykumar Rawal of unlawfully taking possession of their ancestral land located in Shirpur taluka of Dhule district.
During a press conference, Pratibha Patil's brother and nephew asserted that even after a favorable ruling from the court, BJP Minister Jaykumar Rawal continues to occupy the disputed land by leveraging his political power and intimidation tactics.
The ongoing dispute involves 33 acres of farmland that is co-owned by the former President and her siblings.
The Patil family revealed that Rawal had previously made a legal claim to the property, which the court dismissed, affirming the Patils' ownership. However, they allege that Rawal and his followers have ignored the court's ruling and refused to vacate the premises.
“When we attempted to reclaim our land as per the court’s directive, we were confronted and pushed away by individuals loyal to Jaykumar Rawal,” stated Uday Patil, the former President’s nephew.
“Despite the court ruling in our favor, we are facing continual harassment from him and local thugs.”
Uday Patil further alleged that Rawal, a notable BJP leader and the current MLA from Sindkheda, is abusing his ministerial authority to stifle their legitimate claim.
“He has been farming the land unlawfully. Now that we have won our case, they refuse to surrender it. They have even dispatched criminals to intimidate us,” Uday Patil added.
He continued, “The police have shown complete support for him. When we reported the issue, there was no action taken. If this can occur to the family of a former President, what chance does an ordinary citizen have?”
The Patil family is urging immediate action from higher authorities to enforce the court ruling and restore their rightful ownership of the land.
As of now, Minister Jaykumar Rawal has not provided a response to the allegations made by the family of the former President.
