Bhubaneswar, Sep 27 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that Odisha is making significant strides forward, powered by the double-engine government to realize the vision of a 'Viksit Odisha', a commitment made by the citizens during the Assembly elections 18 months ago.

Speaking to a large audience at Amalipali Ground in Jharsuguda, PM Modi remarked, “Around a year and a half ago, during the Assembly elections, the people of Odisha pledged to pursue a new direction.

This pledge was for a 'Viksit Odisha', and today we are witnessing the state advancing with the momentum of this double-engine government.

“Today, projects worth thousands of crores of rupees have been inaugurated for the development of Odisha and the nation,” he stated.

On this occasion, PM Modi reiterated that Odisha is firmly on a path of advancement and assured that the pace of development will only increase.

“Our government is devoted to serving and empowering the underprivileged, focusing on providing essential services to marginalized communities, including Dalits, Backward Classes, and tribal groups,” the Prime Minister noted, emphasizing that today’s event highlights this commitment.

Expressing confidence in the capabilities of the people of Odisha, he acknowledged that nature has endowed the state with abundant resources.

While recognizing that Odisha has faced years of poverty, he assured that the upcoming decade will bring prosperity to its residents.

The government is rolling out major initiatives to support this vision.

He announced the recent approval of two semiconductor units for Odisha and plans for a semiconductor park, attributing this to the vibrant potential of the youth in the state.

PM Modi envisioned a future where microchips used in everyday devices such as phones, televisions, refrigerators, and cars will be produced in Odisha.

He highlighted the launch of BSNL’s indigenous 4G network from Jharsuguda, featuring nearly 100,000 4G towers, set to enhance connectivity in remote areas.

He stressed that this expansion of 4G technology will directly benefit over 20 million people across the country.

He added that approximately 30,000 villages that previously lacked high-speed Internet will now be connected through this initiative.

Recognizing that Odisha is a hub for farmers, he noted the advantages of the GST 'Savings Festival'. He recalled that during the opposition’s tenure, farmers incurred a tax of ₹70,000 on tractors.

With the introduction of GST, this tax was significantly reduced, allowing farmers to save around ₹40,000 on the same tractor.

Pointing out that Odisha has a large tribal population relying on forest products for their livelihoods, the Prime Minister mentioned that the government has been supportive of kendu leaf collectors and has successfully lowered the GST on this product, ensuring better prices for them.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the government is persistently working to fortify the nation and its citizens — be it through tax benefits or modern connectivity — paving the way for ease and prosperity.

He noted that Odisha is gaining substantial advantages from these initiatives, with six Vande Bharat trains currently operating in the state and significant upgrades happening at nearly 60 railway stations.

Furthermore, the VSS Airport in Jharsuguda is now linked to several major cities across India, and Odisha is also seeing a notable increase in revenue from mining and minerals.
