Jaipur, Feb 14 (NationPress) Four soldiers sustained injuries when an Army truck flipped over on National Highway-58 close to the Dangawas-Merta border in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan on Saturday afternoon. Two of the injured personnel are reported to be in critical condition and have been transferred to Ajmer for specialized medical care.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. while the Army vehicle was en route from Bikaner to Jabalpur via Nagaur and Ajmer.

As per police reports, the truck lost control and overturned after the driver suddenly braked. All four injured soldiers were promptly transported to the Merta sub-district hospital, where they received immediate medical attention.

The two critically injured soldiers have been identified as Root Singh and Pushpendra Singh, while the remaining two soldiers sustained minor injuries.

Merta Police Inspector Dharmesh Dayama stated that a police team swiftly arrived at the scene following the report of the accident and began rescue operations and investigations.

An ambulance, operated by Harendra Tetarwal, also reached the site. With the help of local residents, the injured soldiers were rescued from the overturned vehicle and taken to the hospital.

The driver informed the police that he lost control of the truck due to sudden braking, which triggered the accident.

Authorities mentioned that an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Road accidents continue to result in numerous fatalities and injuries annually. Experts point out that factors such as over-speeding, reckless overtaking, driving under the influence, and fatigue are leading causes, as per traffic police data. Poorly lit highways, damaged signage, and unmanaged intersections further elevate risks, particularly at night.

Delays in emergency response and the absence of trauma care facilities in remote regions often exacerbate the situation.

Officials have heightened inspections, installed speed cameras, and initiated awareness campaigns, yet compliance remains uneven. Experts emphasize that stricter enforcement, improved road design, and responsible driving are crucial to mitigating fatalities.

Point of View

I recognize the importance of reporting incidents involving our armed forces with the utmost sensitivity. This accident not only highlights the risks our soldiers face even off the battlefield but also calls for a renewed focus on road safety measures that could prevent such tragedies. Our military personnel deserve safe transportation, and we must advocate for better conditions on our roads.
