Motihari, Sep 21 (NationPress) In a significant bust, five foreign nationals were detained in a coordinated effort by local police and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in the Ghodasahan region of East Champaran district, Bihar.
The individuals are currently under investigation. Reports indicate that these foreign nationals entered Bihar through the Nepal border.
On Saturday night, the SSB received intelligence about suspicious foreigners attempting to travel to Patna after departing from a nearby village.
SSB officials promptly alerted the police. A combined unit of the SSB and Bihar Police arrived at the Ghodasahan bus stand and initiated a search, as stated by an official.
Police subsequently detained four individuals from a passenger bus, while one more was apprehended later.
Among those arrested, four are identified as Sudanese nationals and one as a Bolivian citizen. Authorities recovered notes in Urdu, alongside various books and documents from their belongings.
The Motihari Police have communicated this development to their senior officials. Ongoing interrogations of all five individuals are taking place.
All detainees are reported to be aged between 30 and 40 years. Law enforcement is scrutinizing the documents found in their possession.
The individuals have been identified as Abdul Fitah (44), Rama Siddiqui (38), Ali Abdul Ghaffar (27), and Ahmed Dafaala (37), all from Sudan, along with Miguel Solano Chavez from Bolivia, according to East Champaran Superintendent of Police Swaran Prabhat in a statement to IANS.
During questioning, the Sudanese detainees claimed to have been studying in Hyderabad, yet could not provide clear details regarding their journey to Bihar via Nepal.
The police have also informed the Intelligence Bureau about these arrests.
