Hyderabad, April 22 (NationPress) The government of Telangana has announced that the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards will take place on June 14.
During the curtain-raiser event, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the government's commitment to promoting both Telugu and Urdu cinema.
The formal initiation of the jury evaluation process coincides with this ceremony, marking the commencement of the awards named after the renowned revolutionary poet and balladeer Gaddar, who passed away in 2023.
Last year, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy declared the revival of the Nandi awards in honor of Gaddar.
These awards are reintroduced after a hiatus of 14 years.
The government's initiative aims to recognize and promote cinematic excellence, celebrate Telangana's rich cultural identity, and support the creative community.
The curtain-raiser ceremony was attended by State Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) Chairman Dil Raju, and veteran actress Jayasudha, who chairs the jury.
The official entries and nominations included 76 film submissions and 1,172 individual applications, ceremoniously handed over to jury chairperson Jayasudha.
