Hyderabad, March 10 (NationPress) The government of Telangana is set to host the Godavari Pushkaralu, mirroring the grandeur of the Kumbh Mela, as stated by state minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday.
During the inaugural meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee focused on 'Godavari Pushkaralu–2027', convened at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, directives were issued to initiate permanent infrastructure projects that highlight the 'Telangana Brand' and the state's rich cultural heritage.
The meeting, presided over by IT and Industries minister Sridhar Babu, saw participation from ministers including Konda Surekha, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Seethakka, and Adluri Laxman Kumar, alongside Government Adviser Sudarshan Reddy and senior officials.
The committee assessed the Pushkarams' timeline, departmental readiness, and future action plans.
As per Vedic scholars, the Adi Pushkaralu is scheduled for June 26 to July 7, 2027, while the Antya Pushkaralu will occur from July 13 to July 24, 2028.
An official announcement indicated that the ministers acknowledged the successful execution of the Saraswati Pushkaralu and the Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara by the 'people's government' under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, asserting that the Godavari Pushkaralu would be organized on an even larger scale and with greater efficiency.
An estimated eight crore devotees are anticipated to participate in the Pushkarams, with 96 locations across various districts being earmarked to connect significant temples along the Godavari River.
Learning from previous Pushkarams, the government is formulating distinct state and district-level strategies to upgrade ghats, roads, and other infrastructures tailored to local conditions. Officials mentioned that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) will be finalized by the end of this month. In the initial phase, nine high-traffic locations have been identified as 'Tier-1' areas, where construction efforts will be accelerated. To enhance coordination, a Special Officer for the Pushkarams will be appointed, along with nodal officers from various departments.
Special attention will be given to managing traffic at ghats, ensuring emergency access routes, providing advanced medical services, and organizing parking facilities, as outlined by officials.
Ministers reiterated that there would be no compromises in the arrangements and instructed officials to guarantee high-quality infrastructure and thorough planning to prevent any shortcomings during this monumental religious event.
