New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) BJP leader Kailash Gahlot sarcastically referred to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's management of the city's water supply pipes as a "new invention."

Gahlot also criticized the government for its failure to keep promises made to the residents of Delhi.

"Water lines are traditionally underground; however, this new model has water pipes running above homes, on electricity poles, or even dangling down. It’s a complete disaster," Gahlot told IANS, ridiculing the current situation.

Discussing the ongoing water crisis, Gahlot emphasized that despite Kejriwal's over 10 years in office, he has yet to fulfill his commitment to providing water to every household.

"We were always told that water pipelines are situated beneath the streets, but now we see this new model with pipelines hovering above homes. We have seen the footage, with thousands of pipes everywhere. The water board's supply issues in Bijwasan are significant. The primary concern is drinking water, followed by drainage problems," Gahlot elaborated.

He further pointed out the acute water shortages faced by numerous constituencies. "In areas like Narela, Bawana, Mundka, and Najafgarh, some neighborhoods receive water only once a week, and that too for merely 30 minutes. If any faults or power outages occur, they are left without water for an entire week. There's a vast difference between promises and action. The Aam Aadmi Party has utterly failed in providing water to Delhi's citizens," he stated.

Moreover, Gahlot criticized Kejriwal’s claim that the water from Haryana is contaminated. "Arvind Kejriwal alleges that the water arriving from Haryana is poisonous. But we’re all consuming the same water—Prime Minister Modi, myself, and Kejriwal. We all remain in good health. Making such reckless assertions is unacceptable," Gahlot stated, refuting Kejriwal's claims as unfounded.

Kejriwal had previously asserted that there was “poison” in the Yamuna water reaching Delhi from Haryana, which ignited considerable controversy.
