The victim, recognized as Subhash Jaiswal alias Chhotu, had a notorious criminal history. Authorities were actively searching for him in connection with a robbery involving Rs 13 lakh that occurred in Pandra, Ranchi, approximately two weeks prior.
As per police accounts, Jaiswal arrived at the Kuru bus stand on a motorcycle with an accomplice. He reportedly opened fire on bus agent Santu Paswan with lethal intent. In fear of the gunfire, Paswan escaped, instigating a chaotic scene and a stampede at the bus stand.
During the uproar, a rival gang member retaliated, shooting Jaiswal in the head. He collapsed immediately, while his partner managed to flee.
Law enforcement quickly arrived at the location after receiving reports of the incident. Jaiswal, severely injured, was transported to a local medical facility and subsequently referred to RIMS Ranchi. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
Authorities have detained the shooter, identified as Anamul Ansari, who also has a criminal history. Ansari has been implicated in several previous cases, including an attempted murder of Kudu's former zonal officer, Praveen Kumar Singh.
The case is currently under investigation, with senior district officials visiting the scene to evaluate the circumstances.
This incident is part of an ongoing feud between two gangs. Notably, Paswan's brother was previously murdered in a related incident, perpetuating a cycle of violence between the groups.
