Hazaribagh, July 2 (NationPress) Anis Ansari, a former area commander of the banned extremist group Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district, according to officials. His body, riddled with bullets, was located early Wednesday morning near the Gerua river along the Keredari-Bundu Road in the jurisdiction of the Keredari police station.
Ansari, who hailed from Matve village under Budhmu police station in Ranchi, was reportedly shot two to three times in the chest.
Local residents discovered the deceased and alerted the police, who subsequently arrived, secured the site, and dispatched the body for a post-mortem examination.
According to police officials, Ansari had a significant criminal history, with numerous cases filed against him at various police stations.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the murder might stem from an internal conflict among rival criminal or extremist factions.
Notably, Ansari was expelled from the TPC last year. In July 2024, the group released a pamphlet signed by its zonal commander, Abhishek, announcing Ansari's removal for misconduct.
The pamphlet accused him and another former member, Rameshwar Mahato alias Pahadi, of extorting funds from contractors and businessmen under the guise of the 'VKS Tiwari Gang'. The document warned of potential disciplinary measures.
Sources suggest that this recent murder may be linked to a turf war over extortion operations and regional influence, involving both extremist organizations and organized crime syndicates.
The Keredari area has recently experienced a surge in violence. On June 25, two local animal traders, Phooleshwar Bedia and Baiju Bedia, were shot in broad daylight after allegedly being threatened with an extortion demand of Rs 5 lakh.
Authorities have increased patrols in the area and are actively investigating to determine the precise motive behind Ansari’s murder and to identify the perpetrators.
