Patna, April 7 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Bhojpur Police, alongside the Bihar Special Task Force (STF), apprehended a close associate and family member of infamous gangster Butan Choudhary and confiscated a substantial stockpile of weapons and ammunition during a coordinated raid on Monday.

The operation took place in Belaur village under the jurisdiction of Udwant Nagar police station, an area known for its criminal activities.

The primary suspect of the raid, Butan Choudhary, who has a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on his head, successfully evaded capture and is currently at large.

“We have taken Upendra Choudhary, Butan’s sibling, into custody under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita. Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend Butan Choudhary,” stated Raj, the SP of Bhojpur, during a media briefing.

“During the search of Butan Chaudhary's residence, authorities recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, two AK-47 magazines, 43 live AK-47 cartridges, two hand grenades, and two INSAS rifle magazines,” Raj added.

The arrest and subsequent seizure are being hailed as one of the most significant recent achievements of the Bhojpur Police, which is intensifying its efforts against organized crime in the area.

Upendra Choudhary, the detained individual, is married to Urmila Devi, the Mukhiya of Belaur Panchayat, highlighting the family's considerable local influence.

The police have indicated that further legal measures may ensue as investigations into the extent of criminal engagement and possession of illegal items continue.

Belaur village is notoriously linked to the late Brahmeshwar Singh Mukhiya, leader of the upper-caste militia Ranveer Sena, which was active during the 1990s and associated with numerous violent events in Bihar’s caste conflict-laden history.

Authorities are conducting ongoing raids in nearby regions to apprehend the fugitive gangster and dismantle any criminal networks related to him.
