Guwahati, July 29 (NationPress) In a subtle jab at Gaurav Gogoi, Assam BJP MP Dilip Saikia has claimed that the spouse of a Congress leader was allegedly receiving funds from Pakistan. Furthermore, he asserted that the media from the neighboring country has been leveraging Gogoi's speeches to undermine the Indian government.
During a discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Saikia stated, “The wife of Gaurav Gogoi has allegedly been on Pakistan's payroll for several years, and the Congress leader has reportedly visited Pakistan no less than 19 times.”
Saikia further remarked, “The Assam government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the connections between Gaurav Gogoi and his wife with Pakistan. The SIT has uncovered shocking revelations, and a final report will be presented shortly.”
He emphasized on Monday that numerous Pakistani media outlets have utilized Gaurav Gogoi's speech regarding Operation Sindoor to critique Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government.
“Observe the reports in Pakistani media today where they have referenced Gaurav Gogoi’s speech multiple times to target us,” Saikia added.
In response, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also vehemently criticized Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi following Gogoi’s harsh critique of the government's management of Operation Sindoor during his parliamentary speech.
In a strongly worded post on X, CM Sarma accused the Jorhat MP of serving Pakistan’s interests.
“The recent speech by our MP from Jorhat in Parliament unequivocally proves that he operates on behalf of Pakistan,” the Chief Minister stated.
He further alleged that Gogoi has sustained “close ties with the Pakistani establishment” and referenced an alleged “secret trip” to bolster his assertion.
CM Sarma also questioned the Congress leader’s allegiance to the nation, asserting, “With his wife and both children holding foreign citizenship, he could leave India at any moment.”
Labeling Gogoi as “a disgrace to Assam” and “a betrayal of our pride as patriotic Indians,” CM Sarma’s comments arrive amidst increasing political tensions regarding the Centre’s narrative on military operations and national security.
Previously, CM Sarma, while making a series of serious allegations regarding Gogoi’s purported connections with Pakistan's establishment, vowed to reveal “damning” evidence on September 10. “What I will disclose on September 10 will make Rahul Gandhi regret why he appointed such an individual to a leadership position,” CM Sarma mentioned, referring to Gogoi’s role as Congress president in Assam.
“There are substantial national security concerns. We will take action on September 10,” he affirmed.
The Chief Minister alleged that Gogoi’s wife was engaged in the collection of sensitive information related to the Indian government, allegedly for international climate lobbies. “We possess documents proving that his wife was gathering intelligence outputs of the Government of India. This operation is directly linked,” he claimed, though without providing any documents.
