Government to Launch Air-Conditioned Trucks in Rajasthan: Madan Rathore

Jaipur, Dec 2 (NationPress) Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore stated on Monday that the government is gearing up to introduce air-conditioned trucks in the state, emphasizing the importance of drivers, who are the foundation of the nation's economy.
During discussions about initiatives from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Rathore revealed plans to implement air-conditioned cabins in N-2 and N-3 category trucks produced after June 2025.
Moreover, he mentioned that efforts are being made to upgrade National Highway 8, which connects Jaipur to Ajmer, transforming it into an eight-lane road.
In reply to Rathore's inquiry in the Rajya Sabha, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari elaborated on measures intended to enhance driver efficiency and alleviate fatigue.
Rathore pointed out that AC kits adhering to Indian Standards (IS) will be supplied by chassis manufacturers for installation. This initiative is designed to increase driver comfort, especially during long journeys in extreme temperatures ranging from 44 to 47°C, thereby improving efficiency and safety on the roads.
"Truck drivers are essential to the nation's supply chain and road safety. Offering them a comfortable working environment will help reduce fatigue and enhance productivity," Rathore stressed.
To manage the escalating traffic on NH 8, which connects Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, and Beawar, Rathore announced plans to expand the Jaipur-Kishangarh segment to eight lanes. The Ministry has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this enhancement, with construction to commence based on its recommendations, funding availability, and prioritization.
Currently, the NH 48 stretches from Jaipur to Kishangarh and Kishangarh-Ajmer-Beawar consist of six lanes. The expansion aims to ensure smoother travel and alleviate congestion on this vital route linking Rajasthan’s capital with other significant cities.
These initiatives demonstrate the government's dedication to improving infrastructure and the welfare of transportation workers, promoting both economic development and safer roadways, as stated by Rathore.
