New Delhi, Nov 25 (ANS) Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, the Chief of the Indian Navy, officially welcomed Rear Admiral Mohamed Tahin, the Inspector of the Royal Moroccan Navy, during his visit to India on Tuesday.
Rear Admiral Tahin was honored with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the South Block Lawns prior to engaging in talks aimed at enhancing operational cooperation, as stated by a Navy spokesperson.
The discussions are set to emphasize structured training exchanges, fortifying information-sharing partnerships, and advancing mutual commitments to maritime security, according to the spokesperson.
In line with the strengthening maritime relations with Morocco, the Indian Navy's stealth frigate, INS Tamal, successfully concluded a three-day port visit to Casablanca earlier this year.
The port visit to Casablanca underscores the significance that India places on its relationship with Morocco and its efforts to enhance defense collaboration between the two nations. It also allowed both navies to exchange best practices and explore new cooperative avenues, as highlighted in a statement from the Defence Ministry.
During the port visit from August 6-9, the ship was involved in various activities aimed at fostering collaboration between the Indian and Moroccan navies.
The crew had the opportunity to meet with notable figures including Captain Rachid Sadrhazi, Commander of the 1st Naval Base, Captain-Major Hasan Akouli, Commander of the Central Maritime Sector, and Brigadier General Jamal Kaztouf, Delegate Commander of Weapons of the Casablanca Area, along with Rear Admiral Tahin, the Defence Ministry's statement elaborated.
Throughout the three-day visit, numerous activities were conducted to enhance cooperation between the two navies, including bilateral discussions with senior military officials, cross-deck visits, and cultural exchanges celebrating Indo-Moroccan relations.
India's Ambassador to Morocco, Sanjay Rana, also visited the ship to meet with the Moroccan Navy's senior officials and the crew. Upon leaving Casablanca, the ship took part in a Passage Exercise alongside the Royal Moroccan Navy's Ship Mohammed VI.
Commissioned on July 1 in Russia, INS Tamal is transitioning to her home base through various ports across Europe and Asia, showcasing India's maritime diplomacy and reinforcing bilateral relationships. This marks the third visit of an Indian naval ship to Casablanca within the last two years.
