Key Takeaways
Itanagar, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt General K.T. Parnaik (retd), on Friday, urged the youth of the state to prepare for entry into the National Defence Academy (NDA). He highlighted the critical roles of discipline, dedication, and commitment in serving the nation.
This call to action came during his interaction with students from Mechukha, who had recently taken part in the National Integration Tour.
The students from the Government Higher Secondary School in Mechukha expressed their excitement about their first experiences traveling outside the state, including flying and taking trains for the first time. They enthusiastically recounted their visits to the NDA in Khadakwasla, the Naval Dockyard, and the Army Sports Institute in Pune, which inspired many to pursue careers in the Indian armed forces and professional sports.
The tour was organized by the 22nd Battalion of the Sikh Regiment in collaboration with the 56th Infantry Division.
Reflecting on his own days as an NDA cadet, the Governor encouraged students to begin preparations for the UPSC exams early to secure their places in the NDA.
He shared the essence of the NDA prayer: "to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight," emphasizing that these qualities are essential for a soldier's life and serve as guiding principles for becoming responsible, disciplined, and confident citizens.
Lt. General Parnaik (retd) inspired the students to dream big and cultivate positive thoughts, reminding them that self-belief is the foundation of greatness. He urged them to remain focused on their objectives, work diligently, and not let geographical or circumstantial limitations dictate their futures.
Highlighting the significance of character, perseverance, and courage, he stated that the nation needs the youth from border regions like Arunachal Pradesh to step up and contribute to nation-building with pride.
The Governor expressed pleasure at the students’ enthusiasm and the inspiration they drew from the tour. He encouraged them to share their experiences with peers, parents, and the broader community, as such firsthand accounts can spark curiosity, confidence, and ambition among other young individuals, creating a motivational ripple effect.
The Governor commended the Indian Army for organizing the exposure tour and extended his heartfelt thanks to the 22nd Sikh Battalion and the 56th Infantry Division on behalf of the community, parents, and participating students. He acknowledged that the state's children possess considerable potential and that initiatives like the National Integration Tour are vital in providing them with the exposure and confidence necessary to realize their dreams.
Earlier, Major Praveen Chahal, Officer-in-Charge of the National Integration Tour, briefed the Governor about the tour itinerary, which included visits to Rashtrapati Bhavan, notable national monuments in the capital, and naval ships and submarines in Mumbai. He informed that the tour was officially launched on January 4 by Brigadier Ritesh Katoch, the 5th Infantry Brigade Commander.
