Jaipur, Oct 27 (NationPress) Senior IPS officer Govind Gupta officially assumed the role of Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday, receiving a ceremonial guard of honour at the ACB headquarters.
During the event, Gupta reaffirmed that the bureau will adhere to a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption, aligning with the directives set forth by the state government. He pointed out that the ACB operates on an information-driven model, where the trust of the public is paramount. “Regardless of advancements in technology or the complexity of our tasks, it is vital for the community to trust our system and feel secure in reaching out to us,” he stated.
Gupta also underscored the necessity for robust structures that foster this trust. He highlighted that technology plays a crucial role in contemporary investigations.
The newly appointed DG stressed the significance of training and ongoing skill enhancement for officers to keep pace with the rapidly changing technological environment.
“When we obtain credible leads and execute successful operations, it is equally essential that our investigations are substantiated by solid evidence. Continuous training to stay ahead of technological advancements is vital. As technology progresses, we must evolve as well,” he articulated.
He mentioned that the ACB has established dedicated technology and cyber teams and often collaborates with private specialists as necessary. “We are encouraging new officers to adopt a more technology-oriented approach, and they are already quite adept,” he added.
“Utilizing technology is a continual journey – we have both governmental teams and private experts assisting in our investigations,” he remarked.
In response to inquiries about tackling both major and minor offenders, he stated that the law does not categorize criminals as big or small; a criminal is a criminal, and an accused individual is just that. “Our obligation is to operate impartially, without labeling offenders,” he emphasized.
On this occasion, Additional Director General Smita Srivastava welcomed Gupta with a bouquet of flowers. Following this, the newly appointed Director General received a guard of honour at the ACB headquarters alongside senior officials and staff.
After taking over, Gupta reiterated that, in line with the state's zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Bureau will focus on transparency, promptness, and a robust team spirit. He asserted that enhancing public trust remains the Bureau's utmost priority.
Addressing the ACB team, Gupta declared that concrete steps would be implemented to improve the Bureau's information system and boost public awareness. He mentioned that the Bureau's toll-free helpline number 1064 and WhatsApp number 94135-02834 would be extensively promoted, making it easier for citizens to report corruption-related complaints.
The Director General assured that no innocent individuals would be wronged while those engaged in corrupt practices would face swift and stringent action.
Gupta also urged the residents of Rajasthan to actively engage in this collective battle against corruption, encouraging them to report any incidents through the Bureau's helplines, which are available 24/7.
