Jaipur, March 26 (NationPress) - The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau took decisive action on Thursday, apprehending a Police Constable and an accomplice for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 at the Kathumar Police Station in Alwar district.
This operation was initiated following directives from the Anti-Corruption Bureau Headquarters. Govind Gupta, the Director General of the Bureau, stated that the arrests were made based on a complaint received through their helpline (1064).
The complainant accused ASI Narendra Singh, Constable Rameshwar Singh (No. 17), and a private individual named Niranjan Singh of soliciting Rs 20,000 in exchange for leniency in an ongoing investigation linked to a case against the complainant’s cousin at the Kathumar Police Station.
In response to the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Bureau commenced a verification process under the guidance of Anil Kayal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the Jaipur Range.
Upon validating the claims, a trap was set up by a team led by Ravindra Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) from the Dausa Unit. During this operation, Constable Rameshwar Singh and Niranjan Singh were apprehended in the act of receiving the bribe from the complainant.
The bribe amount was reportedly handled by Niranjan Singh, and the Anti-Corruption Bureau team successfully recovered the entire Rs 20,000.
Authorities have confirmed that the involvement of ASI Narendra Singh is currently under review, with his arrest pending.
The detained individuals are now undergoing interrogation, and a further investigation is being conducted under the oversight of Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Corruption Bureau), Smita Srivastava, and Inspector General of Police (Anti-Corruption Bureau), S. Parimala.
The Bureau has indicated that a case will be registered under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018), alongside Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Legal proceedings pertaining to this matter are ongoing.
