Itanagar, July 26 (NationPress) Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung stated on Saturday that the state administration is dedicated to enhancing grassroots policing to ensure a more rapid response to community needs and grievances. During the inauguration of a newly built police station in Old Ziro, located in the Lower Subansiri district, the Home Minister called upon residents to unite against crime and drug abuse, aiming for a drug-free region. Local citizens presented a memorandum to Natung, detailing their concerns and challenges.
The Home Minister pledged that swift action would be taken regarding the requests and issues outlined in the memorandum. He mentioned that the government has allocated funds for establishing a fire and emergency service station in the vicinity.
Natung urged local MLA Mutchu Mithi and Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme to promptly identify suitable land for the construction of a comprehensive fire station in the valley. He emphasized, “Enhancing law and order infrastructure is a fundamental goal of our administration under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Pema Khandu. This new police facility will act as a cornerstone of safety, security, and public service for the citizens of the Lower Subansiri district.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering peace, efficient policing, and governance that prioritizes the people.
During the event, Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra stressed the urgent need for an integrated check post at Dilopolyang and Maniipolyang, along with police barracks. Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme remarked that the new police station would significantly elevate public confidence in the area.
Inspector General of Police (Western Range), Take Ringu, voiced serious concerns regarding the escalating drug problem and the prevalence of substance abuse among the youth in the region. The IGP called for coordinated efforts from all community members, including village elders, to combat this growing challenge.
