Shimla, May 21 (NationPress) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu paid homage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his death anniversary, adorning his statue with a garland.
During a media interaction, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is dedicated to realizing the late Rajiv Gandhi's vision, especially in uplifting the underprivileged and marginalized communities.
He reminisced about Rajiv Gandhi's monumental contributions, stating that he devoted his life to the nation's unity and integrity while laying the groundwork for transformative initiatives that advanced the nation's progress and prosperity.
According to the Chief Minister, Rajiv Gandhi played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation for the information technology revolution in India, which continues to yield positive results for today's generation. He also made significant provisions for 33 percent reservation for women in the Panchayati Raj Institutions through constitutional amendments.
The state government has initiated the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School Yojna to elevate educational standards. In every assembly constituency, schools equipped with modern facilities and infrastructure are being set up to benefit students in rural areas.
Additionally, the government is rolling out the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna, which will provide loans to young individuals to kickstart their careers. Unemployed youth will also receive a 50 percent subsidy for purchasing e-taxis under this initiative.
