Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 24 (NationPress) – An influx of thousands of devotees and tourists from various parts of India and beyond has started to converge in the Braj region to experience the globally renowned Holi festivities in Barsana, Vrindavan, and Mathura. The traditional celebrations officially kicked off with ritual ceremonies held on Tuesday.
The spectacular Braj Holi commenced with groups of women from Barsana traveling to Nandgaon to deliver a ceremonial invitation for the famed Lathmar Holi. This customary interaction has marked the official beginning of the colorful Phag (Holi) celebrations in the area. Later that evening, a shower of Laddu Prasad was set to take place in the courtyard of the revered Shri Radha Rani Temple (Ladli Ji Temple), attracting large crowds of devotees.
Many visitors expressed immense happiness at being part of these age-old traditions. A devotee from Mumbai shared, “We have traveled from Mumbai, and it feels incredible to be here. Everything looks exceptionally beautiful. Witnessing these celebrations is truly wonderful.” Another attendee described the occasion as “overflowing with joy and spiritual bliss,” encouraging everyone to experience it at least once.
The authorities have implemented extensive arrangements to handle the significant surge of pilgrims. Superintendent of Police (Security) Suresh Chandra Rawat confirmed that the globally recognized festivities are taking place under stringent security measures. Dedicated routes for entry and exit have been established to avoid congestion, while devotees are being guided to temples in a well-regulated manner to facilitate smooth darshan.
“All congestion points have been barricaded, and crowd movement is being meticulously controlled,” the officer stated. A comprehensive network of 230 CCTV cameras has been installed across the area, monitored from three designated control rooms. The entire region has been organized into seven zones and 18 sectors for effective security deployment.
The police have also stated that they are closely monitoring potential anti-social elements to ensure peaceful celebrations. The vibrant festivities in the Braj region are anticipated to continue in the coming days, drawing even larger crowds.
