Ahmedabad, Aug 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, carried out a thorough inspection on-site of the Bulk Drug Park currently under construction in Jambusar, located in the Bharuch district. This project is a significant part of the Central Government’s Bulk Drug Park Policy.
Occupying an area of 2,015 acres (approximately 815 hectares), the park is being developed with a substantial investment of Rs 3,920 crore, which includes Rs 550 crore earmarked for foundational infrastructure.
During his visit, the Chief Minister examined critical construction elements such as the access road, boundary wall, internal road systems, precast drainage, internal water supply, and waste disposal mechanisms. These components are vital for the park's operational framework.
CM Patel received updates on the technical advancements and provided suggestions to accelerate project timelines while maintaining quality standards.
The Bulk Drug Park is being established by the GIDC in accordance with the Government of India's 2020 Bulk Drug Park Policy, which was unveiled under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative aims to bolster self-sufficiency in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API).
Gujarat has been selected as one of the states to participate in this strategic initiative, which seeks to decrease reliance on imports and boost domestic pharmaceutical production.
As part of a larger effort to oversee vital development projects, the Chief Minister also planted a tree at the site. He reaffirmed the state's dedication to establishing top-tier pharmaceutical infrastructure that will enhance India’s healthcare manufacturing framework.
The park will feature advanced common infrastructure amenities, such as a CETP (common effluent treatment plant), solvent recovery systems, stormwater drainage, solid waste management, research laboratories, training centers, safety audit facilities, and shared utilities like steam and testing laboratories.
The Central Government has dedicated Rs 1,000 crore in grant-in-aid to support this infrastructure.
During the review, CM Patel was joined by local MLA D.K. Swami, GIDC Managing Director Praveena D.K., Bharuch District Collector Gaurang Makwana, GIDC Chief Engineer Menat, along with other senior officials.
The project is projected for completion by March 2027, with its infrastructure set to significantly enhance Gujarat’s industrial and healthcare sectors.
