Gandhinagar, January 9 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, officially opened the National Mineral Chintan Shivir at Mahatma Mandir in the capital city, emphasizing its significance as a pivotal platform to outline the mining industry's future for "constructing a new India".

This three-day conference, organized by the Union Ministry of Mines, unites mining ministers from various states, top officials, and industry representatives to deliberate on reforms, technology, sustainability, and future policy pathways for the sector.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister highlighted that the mining and mineral industry is fundamental to India’s industrial framework and economic development, asserting that the Chintan Shivir will bolster this foundation through collaborative discussions and actionable solutions.

He remarked that the Prime Minister has implemented comprehensive reforms across diverse sectors to foster an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, with the mining industry also benefiting from definitive policies, robust political commitment, and transparent governance.

CM Patel noted that Gujarat has embraced eco-friendly mining techniques, scientific reclamation, and technology-driven monitoring in alignment with this national vision.

Pointing out Gujarat’s mineral advantages, the Chief Minister stated the state is a vital center for lignite, limestone, and bauxite. He mentioned that Gujarat has established its mining industry as a model of transparency and rule-based governance, aided by a real-time GPS vehicle tracking system for mineral transportation.

He reiterated the state’s dedication to advancing the objectives of Vocal for Local, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Viksit Bharat@2047.

Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy referred to the mining industry as a “cornerstone of economic growth”, asserting its crucial role in achieving the aspiration of a developed India by 2047.

He commended Gujarat’s developmental framework, noting it has set exemplary standards for other states that are now competitively striving for investment and growth.

Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey also spoke at the event.

The gathering saw participation from ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Nagaland, along with senior officials from the Union Coal and Mines Ministry and the Gujarat government, including Industries and Mines Additional Chief Secretary Mamta Verma.
