Gandhinagar, Aug 2 (NationPress) Families of over 52.16 lakh farmers in Gujarat have benefitted from the disbursement of more than Rs 1,118 crore in the 20th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, with funds directly transferred to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
This achievement was celebrated during the PM-Kisan Utsav Diwas event in Gandhinagar, attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually initiated the release from Kashi, with over three lakh farmers from Gujarat participating live to hear his message.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the PM-KISAN scheme stands out as the world's largest DBT program, underscoring its transparent and equitable distribution, which has greatly enhanced farmers' confidence in the Union government.
CM Patel stated, "Prime Minister Modi exemplifies how swift and effective governance can be achieved when rooted in a commitment to public service."
He further emphasized that through initiatives like PM-KISAN, PM-Jhan Dhan Yojana, and the PM Kisan Sampada Yojana, the focus on farmers remains pivotal in India's developmental narrative.
Over Rs 3.69 lakh crore has been allocated to 9.7 crore farmers nationwide through 19 installments, with the latest installment distributing Rs 20,500 crore to farmers across India, as stated by the Chief Minister.
Gujarat has cumulatively received Rs 19,993 crore from all previous installments, he mentioned.
He highlighted a fivefold increase in agriculture spending over the last decade, with the distribution of 25 crore soil health cards and advancements in modern farming practices and mechanization.
The newly launched PM Jan Dhan Yojana aims to enhance productivity in 100 underperforming districts across India, he added.
He also pointed out Gujarat's leadership in advocating for natural farming and millet-based agriculture, aligning with the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
To support this, the Gujarat Natural Farming Science University in Halol has been established.
State Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel encouraged farmers to adopt innovation and sustainability.
Additionally, Anju Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the State Agriculture department, elaborated on the comprehensive support system for farmers, from sowing to selling, reporting over 11 lakh farmers registered on the i-Kisan Portal to access various state-supported schemes.
The event in Gandhinagar was graced by notable dignitaries, including Shilpaben Patel, District Panchayat Chairperson; MLA Reetaben Patel; Sandeep Kumar, Animal Husbandry Secretary; Vijay Kharadi, Managing Director of Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation; alongside a large audience of farmer beneficiaries and officials.
Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible farmer families with an annual income support of Rs 6,000, distributed in three equal installments.
