Gandhinagar, July 22 (NationPress) The Gujarat state government has sanctioned investment proposals exceeding Rs 1,086 crore from 15 prominent industrial units as part of the ‘Incentive to Industries’ initiative.
The approvals were made during a pivotal committee meeting led by Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput in Gandhinagar. These initiatives are projected to create approximately 3,697 new job opportunities across multiple districts within the state.
Minister Rajput noted that Gujarat, under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has become a favored location for investors, thanks to its supportive industrial policies. The endorsed projects encompass diverse sectors such as auto components, plastics, ceramics, and metals.
Key investments include Rs 459.54 crore in Ahmedabad, Rs 237.48 crore in Panchmahal, and Rs 224.03 crore in Vadodara, along with notable contributions in Patan, Mehsana, and Morbi.
The industries will benefit from Net SGST reimbursements under the state's 2015 industrial policy. Rajput pointed out that the cumulative effects of the initiative thus far include investments surpassing Rs 1.48 lakh crore and the establishment of over 1.65 lakh direct jobs.
He underscored the support extended to MSMEs and ancillary units, fostering a robust and industry-friendly environment throughout the state.
The meeting featured senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Dr. Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary (Forest & Environment) Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Economic Affairs) Aarti Kanwar, and Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop.
According to the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE), Gujarat's informal sector added around 7.62 lakh jobs between 2015-16 and 2022-23, raising total employment in this sector from approximately 61.1 lakh to 68.8 lakh jobs.
In addition, under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), the state created about 14,960 jobs in 2015-16, 11,629 in 2016-17, and 15,008 in 2017-18.
Through public sector placements facilitated by Employment Exchanges, Gujarat provided jobs to 2.74 lakh youths in 2022, representing 43 percent of all youths placed through these exchanges nationwide that year; from 2018-19 to 2022-23, over 15 lakh candidates secured jobs through more than 7,000 recruitment fairs organized by the state.
