Shivpuri, Aug 16 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking incident, four individuals lost their lives and 11 others sustained injuries in a severe road accident in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday morning. The victims were part of a music troupe from Gujarat, returning from a performance at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.
The collision occurred on National Highway-27, near Survaya police station, when their Traveller van crashed head-on into a loaded truck from the opposite direction.
Arvind Chari, the incharge of Survaya police station, informed IANS that, “All victims were residents of Mehsana and Surendranagar districts of Gujarat.”
One individual died instantly, while three more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Among the injured were 11 people, including a driver who is currently in critical condition.
Initial investigations indicate that the van driver may have fallen asleep, having set off from Varanasi around 5 A.M. without any rest.
The tragic event unfolded around 6:30 A.M., roughly 30 kilometers from the district center. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to hit the central divider and veer into oncoming traffic before colliding with the truck.
The collision was so intense that several passengers were ejected from their seats, according to the police.
At the time of the crash, there were 17 people in the van. The deceased have been identified as Hardik Dave (40), the group's lead singer; Raja Thakur (28); Ankit Thakur (22); and Rajpal Solanki (60).
This music ensemble was known for conducting devotional performances throughout northern India.
The injured, including Mohit Rawal, Ashish Vyas, Narendra Nayak, Chetan Kumar, Harshad Goswami, Mohlik, Rishikesh, Arvind, and others, were swiftly transported to a government hospital in Shivpuri.
