Bhopal, May 1 (NationPress) Four individuals lost their lives and three others sustained injuries when the vehicle they were in veered off course and collided with a culvert close to Bhadaura village, which falls under the Myana police station's jurisdiction, on Thursday.

The tragic event took place at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to police reports.

Upon hearing a loud noise, the proprietor of a nearby Dhaba (eating establishment) rushed to the scene and promptly contacted the police and ambulance services. Guna is situated around 225 km from Bhopal.

In a statement to IANS, Gopal Choube, the investigating officer and head of the police station, remarked, "It appears that the driver, who was among the victims, may have dozed off, resulting in the crash."

He further added, "The victims were on their way home following a wedding celebration when the accident transpired. Of the injured, one is in critical condition and has been transferred to Bhopal for further medical care. However, it is unclear who was driving the car, as only one of the survivors can communicate, and that too, not coherently."

The deceased have been named as Govind Raghuvanshi (28), Sonu Raghuvanshi (35), Veeru Kushwaha (24), and Hitesh Bairagi (24), all residents of Rijoda village. The injured include Sudeep Raghuvanshi (24), currently in critical condition in Bhopal, along with Sumit Raghuvanshi (24) and Ravi Raghuvanshi (22), who are receiving treatment at the district hospital.

The officer also rejected the preliminary assumption that another vehicle had struck the car, stating, "The damage is primarily on the rear end of the vehicle, while the front remains largely intact, indicating that further investigation is required once the injured recover and medical reports are available."

Post-mortem examinations have been carried out, and the bodies have been returned to their grieving families. The wedding festivities took place in Mawan village, with guests traveling from Rijoda in Shivpuri district.
