Ahmedabad, Nov 21 (NationPress) The renowned Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad is poised for enhancement with a newly constructed one-kilometre Linear Garden located between Ellis Bridge and Nehru Nagar along the eastern bank of the river.

Developed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of Rs 12 crore, this garden seamlessly integrates leisure with cultural heritage, inviting visitors to stroll through Ahmedabad’s historical narrative and urban progression.

Local residents have expressed overwhelming support for the initiative, deeming it a significant enhancement to the city's scenery. One resident, Rakesh Bhavsar, noted that the Linear Garden not only beautifies but also enriches the riverfront experience, while another, Narendra Rajput, showcased pride in the city’s ongoing commitment to improving public areas.

This garden is designed to serve both leisure and educational purposes, featuring informative displays that engage visitors in understanding the evolution of Ahmedabad.

Devang Dani, Chairperson of the AMC’s Standing Committee, articulated that the project’s goal is to provide entertainment, along with a comprehensive understanding of the city’s heritage and development.

Constructed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the Linear Garden is scheduled to welcome the public in the upcoming year, featuring designated areas for senior citizens, children's play zones, and a variety of family amenities.

This innovative garden is expected to enhance the riverfront experience, offering both residents and visitors a glimpse into Ahmedabad’s rich history and lively culture.

Gujarat boasts a diverse array of gardens that harmoniously blend nature, culture, and recreation, providing green spaces amidst the rapid urbanization of its cities.

From the Sabarmati Riverfront gardens, including the newly established Linear Garden and the expansive Riverfront Biodiversity Park, to the historic Law Garden and the lush Victoria Garden near Ellis Bridge, Ahmedabad offers vibrant public spaces suitable for all age demographics.

Vadodara, famously known as the “Garden City,” is home to Sayaji Baug (Kamati Baug), one of India's largest public gardens, featuring a zoo, museums, and a toy train.

Gandhinagar’s Children’s Park and Indroda Nature Park promote ecological awareness, while Bhavnagar’s Nilambag Palace gardens and Jamnagar’s Pratap Vilas Palace gardens showcase royal heritage.
