Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (NationPress) The Gujarat government has revealed plans to host over 8,000 Ayurvedic health camps and medical workshops throughout the state in the upcoming year. These events will prioritize women's and children's health, geriatric care, and issues related to lifestyle diseases.
This initiative is being led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel through the state’s AYUSH division.
The announcement aligns with a collective effort of health initiatives, including Swasth Nari (Healthy Women), Sashakt Parivar (Empowered Families), National Nutrition Month, and National Ayurveda Day.
National Ayurveda Day is celebrated annually on September 23, coinciding with the autumn equinox, a time when day and night are nearly equal, symbolizing balance between mind, body, and senses—a fundamental aspect of Ayurveda.
The Ministry of AYUSH, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, takes this opportunity to raise awareness about the holistic health benefits of Ayurveda.
During this health-centric period, the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign is being observed from September 17 (PM Modi’s birthday) to October 2 (Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti), with a strong focus on maternal and child nutrition.
In addition, the ongoing National Nutrition Month highlights the nutritional needs of pregnant women, nursing mothers, adolescent girls, and children under the age of six.
The AYUSH division of Gujarat is also implementing programs like Ayurvedic dietary advice and Suvarna Prashan, a gold-based immunity booster for children.
Planned activities at AYUSH clinics, Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs, Ayurvedic hospitals, and colleges include Suvarna Prashan, exhibitions showcasing medicinal plants, awareness on kitchen herbs, Panchakarma demonstrations, homeopathic consultations, and Ayurveda on Wheels—mobile vans equipped with Ayurvedic doctors.
Furthermore, guidance sessions addressing obesity management and stress control are integral parts of this outreach.
India first commemorated National Ayurveda Day in 2016 with the theme “Prevention and Control of Diabetes through Ayurveda.”
This year marks the 10th celebration, themed “Ayurveda for People and Planet,” which underscores Ayurveda's increasing global significance in addressing lifestyle disorders, health challenges related to climate change, and stress management.
